With so many opportunities to hear Adam and Joe on the BBC at the moment, you'd better make sure there are no waxy build-ups or foreign bodies in your lug holes.
Adam joined Liza Tarbuck to cover for Jonathan Ross on Saturday and will do the same next week. We have yet to discover if there will be podcasts for these shows. They were like a couple of delightful, giggling children but I hope Adam is able to have a little more influence over the playlist next week.
At the same time, 6Music had the Adam and Joe Show Easter Highlights which will be here for 7 days and the podcast is ready to download but keep thumping that button over the next couple of weeks because there will be more retro podcasts to grab.
Earlier today we heard the first of Adam Buxton's Big Mix Tapes. Adam has tried to imply that this first one might be a bit wobbly compared to future shows. That's just his sweet way. Nothing wrong with episode one at all! The podcast is also good to go and James has put a lovely picture, track-list and the front page of the running order sheets on the 6Music Blog. Adam also recorded a show with Louis Theroux. You really should check out the photo here. I must be getting old because if Adam has the date right (and why wouldn't he?) none of them look like they've passed the hormone explosion period of their lives.

From a couple of days before his show, the podcast subscriptions were steadily carrying him up the charts and he was resting at position 2 in the main chart tonight, with The Adam and Joe Show sliding into 15th place in the comedy charts as you can see from the screen grab up there.
In the fullness of time, I'd imagine some lovely people will make all the recent shows available in various forms here.

This report claims 'thousands' attended which seems like an exageration but it's good publicity and the BBC could not be seen to be covering it. The Guardian reported here.
The videos for Adam's "Changes" have started to appear. The first real contender was a stunning and hilarious group project by all the Facebook teamsters.
I was particularly thrilled by the inclusion in that video of an image from this person. I unsuccessfully tried to get his permission via Twitter but I think it's so clever that I'm going to post it here anyway and remove it if he gets in touch. I'm not happy with this post. It seems like a bald list of information and I can't seem to inject any fun into it today. I'm wondering if this blog is wearing itself out a bit.
This will have to be an organic kind of post. Stuff has happened and I haven't found time to venture in here so I'll freestyle in no particular order and see how few hits I get this time.
Both Adam and Joe have had news flutters since my last post.
The most vigorous net activity was around Joe's film "Attack the Block" (I feel stupid, continually typing that name. We all know about this now, don't we?).
The trade papers finally published a release with quite a bit more info about the plot, casting and crew. The general stance is that principal photography started this week although we know that playground and night footage has been going for a wee while. I know it's going to test my willpower more than I would normally enjoy but I'm going to attempt to visit this film with my little brain in as vanilla a state as is possible. I'll post some links but I may not have read them through.
If you're genuinely interested in pre-absorbing every tiny detail about this film, you'll have the temerity to find the info yourselves. The production vehicles are in place and it's easy to find out where. If this isn't too pompous of me, I'd just ask that a modicum of respect for the originators is deployed if you have stumbled upon pictures and/or video from the set (or in one case a description of 'the aliens' that I really wish I hadn't read). Some have been removed but others are out there still. They're seen completely out of context and whilst pre-release buzz is an essential in the marketing of such a product, at this stage in the game, it's just silly and potentially hurtful.
So, the grown-up links I'm going to include are from Empire and Film4, whom along with the Film Council, I believe were the first to the filthy money table on this one but perhaps that was due to the delicate nature of negotiations between Big Talk and Optimum in the early stages. Ignore my laboured musings. What's that? You always do? You sod!
Now, Film4 originally popped their page up with a lovely, hardly used picture of Joe from the Sony's press line but I see they now capitulated to Twitter pressure and used a ECU of the same old bed-head picture everyone goes with from his agent's page. I'm going to risk breaking my self imposed netiquette (and possibly copyright) ruling to post the original picture here. Of course, I have previously gone on record in this very blog to say that the picture currently featured is stupidly sexy so I'm not complaining, just sayin'.
Of the more blog-based offerings, one of the first out of the blocks was this giving the bald facts from the trades. I'm guessing Slash Film have made their/his usual job of efficiently gathering all the good bits and giving a nice, geeky slant. All I dared do was glance at the page long enough to absorb and covet what I presume is the crew jacket design. I now have this saved in an ebay search :shameface: I'm also going to link this sweet little blog which carefully trawls the UK for casting news and gathers photos together. According to a tweet, this fella has a role too but not sure of what calibre. I may have seen Jodie Whittaker on stage more often than on the big and little screens so I'm completely confident that she's a great asset to the production. I nearly got sunstroke when I watched her one time.
The Playlist put a page together but they're a bit wobbly with their info as they're not UK based and they even mis-quoted themselves in the first line of this one but they're a sweet bunch of people. I'm amused to see the news also made it into Female First.
As I've said before, I'm trying to skip reading too much about additional plot info but I've been very impatient to know who would be lighting this so I'm happy that name was revealed in the first report. None of these additions have slothed their way onto the IMDB yet but Tom Townend is a very welcome bit of info. Terry Notary updated the IMDB when he was cast as The Alien. He's primarily a stunt person and motion capture performer which has set all sorts of delicious neurons firing in my head but his inclusion does once again make me wonder if part of the works scheduled on this will take our beloved Cornballs over the big, magical ocean for a spell.
All I'm going to say now is that I hope Joe is surrounded by a team of people who aide, inspire and provide some kind of comfort zone for him. Directing must be so daunting when a hundred faces are staring at you, waiting for a conclusive and authoritative answer to endless questions. I hope any nerves he may have had will dissipate so that he can have enormous, corpse-inducing fun. Edited to add: It sounds as though he's doing OK so far as Jodie Whittaker is concerned.
The news from Adam Buxton is far more immediately gratifying. Not only do we have an air date of Easter Sunday for his Big Mix Tape show but it would seem he went ahead yesterday to make two more shows. This is heartwarming news for our ears and for the dear Buckles. He has also mentioned that he hopes to attend the get together tomorrow. You can read more about that here. Please make sure you've made your feelings about 6Music plain in all the right places. If you go to Portland Place tomorrow, make sure you have sensible shoes and a clean hankie.
So far, I've only found the odd, unofficial mention of this but Andrew Collins himself declared that he and his friend would not be covering the Adam and Joe Show on Easter Saturday because there would be a "Highlights" show. In a few hours, this page will confirm that and the Radio Times has it listed so I think we can say it's a done deal.
Just remember, the info mumbled in this blog is about as reliable as the so-called facts that Adam and Joe used to hurl at us from their radio show. This post will probably be most notable for it's omissions.

The DJs play the music they love for people who love music. It is valuable showcase for new bands and artists, and regardless of what the BBC thinks, we will not find this on Radio 2.

Adam has enlisted 6Music's own Tom Robinson to help make a version of Bowie's Changes as part of the 6Music support campaign. It would be too much to hope he'd perform it during the above meet-up but more excitingly, people will be invited to make videos to go with the song, just like the old days of videowars. I'll bet the Emmett family can hardly contain their creative juices right now.
Keeping with the 6Music news, Adam has made a pilot show based on one of his long standing passions, the mix-tape. Read more about it in a post at the BBC 6Music blog. That post has had a record number of responses and everyone seemed excited to know that Julian Barrett joined Adam. Won't it be satisfying if this gets commissioned? There's more about the show and some priceless remarks in a wonderful three page interview with Adam at Shortlist. John Plunkett swiftly brought the pilot news to the mass media.

Recent updates on the Attack the Block IMDB page add a frail piece of substance to my musing about some of the prosthetic and puppeteering work being done Stateside but it's all good stuff. Still no news about who the cinematographer is.
For some reason, the lovely people at Playlist decided to post something about the casting tweet we saw last month. I don't know if it's genuinely to do with them only just stumbling across it or if they have some privileged information that prompted today's post. Nick Frost's tweets imply that he is not shooting it at the moment but for that matter, neither is the loose-lipped tweeter.
If the apparent two moons bleaching the streets of South London were anything to go by, night shooting continued last week. Joe must be looking pale and weedy.
I really can't manufacture any more Cornballs news so it's back to Buckles. 4OD have put Ladies and Gentlemen on their YouTube Channel. It has an age advice warning so I'm linking rather than embedding.
Adam brought BUG18 to town last week and there was an added frissant in Twitterland due to the amazing work of @WickWox (see last week's post) and her incredible collection of well-wishes which she presented in scrapbook for the great man himself. @Monastico made this beautiful felt sleeve for it. You may have read in the webchat about the joy it brought to Adam.
The BUG evening itself had some technical problems and Adam had intended to play his version of Changes (see above) to us but he just sang a couple of lines instead. It was completely wickles. He also showed us this project and once you've got the hang of what that's about, click here to see Adam's contribution. I'm not going to embed that one because it's totally out of context if you don't visit 'In B Flat' first.
I also saw Adam in a beauooootiful little short film the other week, directed by Matthew Walker and Arthur Cox. The quality of all the films was very high but Little Face stands a very good a chance of walking away with a prize on the 8th April Awards Night.
Adam has appeared in the line-up for Latitude again, bringing a special tent-based version of BUG to the country folk. He sounded unsure about it earlier but he was probably just being modest. I'm sure Corin Hardy will cover for him if he can't make it. This festival gets bigger every year but I hope it doesn't loose it's charm.
So finally, Adam made a small but worthy contribution to BBC Radio 1's broadcast about making fan music videos. He mentions lots of his work so I'm going to put them in a little fiddle zone below.
It's a shame there is nothing more to say about Joe. If he's lucky, he'll be having a lot of fun and I'm sure there are plenty of lovely young assistants tending his needs. I'm secretly quite pleased there's not too much information about his film out there. All the better to enjoy when it's released. I do hope he's not too jealous of Adam's lovely scrapbook. Surely, he'd have had one too if there was a public appearance in the diary but that's not his scene at all. Any seemingly bitter comments made here about him can be instantly ignored. It's my coping mechanism because I miss his stupid voice and lanky bones. Thank goodness Adam has so much energy to share.
The more and more likely demise of 6Music has left me poleaxed into an unbloggitudinous stupor which I must overcome herein.

Enough with all the serious stuff. Upon completion of all your supportive duties you have my permission to quickly scan over the rest of the nonsense I seem to have gathered over this last couple of weeks.
Just when you thought Joe Cornish was up to his very lofty lugholes in celluloid and loud hailers, he's gone and tossed a few clips together, punched and stretched them against his Exit Music for The Shining and for the first time in months and months, plopped something into his YouTube Channel. If you want something doing, ask a busy person.
Digital Spy, are suggesting that the Ant Man project might be off or resting again. I've not noticed Edgar comment on this piece anywhere but I may have missed it.
Earlier in the week, somebody tossed a cod snippet onto YouTube showing an elevated view of an effects shot from Joe's Attack The Block. I am very happy to say it was removed. I'm not going to dignify it with any detail here. I'll just say that my feelings about things like this finding their way onto the net fill me with dread.
My interest, nay obsession with certain pieces of upcoming media make it almost impossible for me to prevent the twitching click of deathly exposure but in my opinion, there are few things on this special, shiny planet as gratifying as viewing a film or work of art, free of the burdens of precognition with the glorious impact intended by the director and team of collaborators. Stills and on-set snips are imbued with such burdens of fan-hunger that are perpetuated around the net to be twisted and misconstrued. Yes, I clicked on that clip but wished I hadn't. Yes, I saved it before it was removed, such are my reflexes and yes, I hope I won't be tempted to fire it up until I've watched the completed film at least half a dozen times. It was a tiny, pony thing but if one person does it, others will follow.
Since my last blog entry, I think the only IMDB additions have been a couple in the art department. It would seem that this week's shooting has been fairly near to the area of London where Joe is proud to tell us he lives and indeed set his script. Since a cast member has removed a tweet about the shoot and no other cast has been officially updated, I can only presume it is the wish of the production team that this project receives as little uncontrollable exposure as possible. Forthwith, I shall be respecting that and consequently limit my updates to information gathered from the wider domain. If any of the crew see a goblin carrying dingle and wearing an "Auntie Nubbins Say Stephen!" t-shirt, it surely won't be me.
We have been delighted by no less than TWO updates at the BBC 6Music blog this week. James has given us a lovely, clean mp3 of Adam's Magical Forest song. When I posted this a month ago on my silly Posterous side-blog, it got one of the highest numbers of hits but my file was just a dirty version clawed out of the iPlayer.
Earlier today, Adam put my pathetic webcam grabbing video to shame with a proper glimpse into the exiting world of two middle aged men being paid to giggle like schoolboys in everyone's favourite clip of the Mr Wolf Pants exchange. As soon as this goes up on the BBC YouTube, I'll change the link for our overseas revellers.

Last month, James reminded us of the street sign enhancement from last year and I was very pleased to notice that although the exclamation mark had been cleaned up, the sign is still suitably respectful. I've been watching a few Oscar nominated DVDs this week. When it came to Up In The Air I wondered if I should have been cringing at the silliness of the original concept of this blog. It all started when Adam and Joe went away & I packed little cardboard versions of them to take with me and photograph. I can't even claim it was an homage to Mr Reitman since I'd stopped using them by the time the film came out.
I've lost the will to write so you surely must have given up reading a few inches ago. Have a good weekend and don't forget to listen to Collins and Herring who are getting better and better, week on week.

I've never strayed out of the dirty London town but I think the evenings I've seen are perfectly balanced with just the right amount of audio visual lovelies and I can't get enough of Adam's YouTube comment presentations.

The Leicester Comedy Festival has been all aTwitter with Buckles love and Simon Button is now proudly sporting this joyous picture on his home page.
An innocent tweet earlier in the week provoked several lovely geeky sites into editorial meltdown with the news that the hithero dozily dreaming Ant-Man project was clearly just taking a lot of bunched-up power-naps. It's thrown back it's bleary head, downed a triple Espresso, stretched all three pairs of legs and scuttled along the formica worktop to the steamy kitchen of production. (I need to stop right now, don't I?)
Keeping with the Wright/Cornish news, there have been further updates on the IMDB page for Attack the Block, the most significant of which was some concrete casting news. Luke Treadaway will play "Brewis". I could bore you all with my Treadaway waffle for ages of pages but suffice it to say he's been a Philip Ridley poppet on stage and also appearing in the long awaited (by me) Heartless due for release in May by which time we can only hope that ATB principal photography will be in the can and he can dance around the junket circuit with candid waffle to delight us all. He was last seen by my eyes with all manner of gloopy stuff dribbling over his poorly clad body with his twinster at the Royal Court - a Mark Ravenhill play. This boy has made some enviably cool choices in his career so far and that doesn't look like it will stop anytime soon. We won't mention The Innocence Project (much). I wouldn't say it's 'The Persuasionists' of his cv but it was one of those 'good performances, clunky writing' pieces. Other additions to the IMDB imply that the Art Department are getting locked into position too.
I'm rather frustrated that the gaffer has been listed but we don't yet know who the Director of Photography will be. Julian White worked on Enda Walsh's "Chatroom" (the cast of which included the 11th Doctor when I saw it on stage) which I believe was part of the deal in the Film4 package that included Attack the Block and has been rolling out over the last 18 months. The DoP would have chosen his gaffer rather than had one imposed upon him so someone's got the job and has probably been prepping with Joe for weeks now. We just don't know who that is. I know I'm sounding stupidly geeky here but there is so much serious kudos attached to this film. I have a funny feeling that the industry types must be creaming themselves to get on board. If Mr Haughty weren't consumed with trembling, girly apprehension, he'd have a moment to burst with pride.
Studio Canal are doing their duties to the film at the EFM part of the Berlinale . I'm amused to see Joe's name in a sentence with Rowan Joffe and Percy Adlon.
Flippin' heck, I've bored myself senseless.
Remember that lovely little short Adam appeared in a couple of years ago? It's being subjected to a public vote in the British Animation Festival and can be seen around the country this month. Check here for details near you. You need to look for Prog Three but frankly, they'll all be wickles. There are stills to whet your appetite and here is a that tiny clip from YouTube.
BUG 18 tickets went on sale to the public on Tuesday and sold out a couple of days later. At the risk of sounding like a broken mp3 player, in my experience there are always tickets on the day if you don't have to make too many hard and fast plans and can take a risk on it. Smite me for saying it but the 'director's cut' is never usually as good value as the first show but it's better than no show at all.
There was a bit of grammar brickbatting over on the 6Music Blog with a suggestion for a t-shirt to wear whilst listening to podcasts in public areas. James also took us down memory lane with a bit of Stephen streetware at the blog.
Edgar Wright is hosting a late night of Death Wish III next week and there's a Spaced finger gunfight flashmob planned in a few weeks' time. Scott Pilgrim news also trickles through Edgar's Blog.
Finally and with deep respect to Andrew Collins and Richard Herring, I'm going to post my daily AdamAndJoeByte earlier or later than usual tomorrow because I was chastised for appearing to poke them during their broadcast last week. I don't have enough twollowers for that to really make one jot of difference to anybody but if it peeved Andrew, that's one peeved person too many and I am bemused but sorry.
After a heady couple of weeks, wowing his adoring fans in the dirty metropolis, Adam returned to his manor for a couple of BUGs in Norwich but such is the generosity of his nature and heartfelt community spirit, he also shoehorned an arts centre opening into his schedule. I would link the picture here but I don't want to get my special blogging privileges revoked. I'm looking at the picture - well, it's more of a glance than a look - and I'm thinking two things, neither of which are complimentary. 1) are those sexy, beautifully honed pectorals, does he just need to make a trip to Rigby & Peller or does Louise sub for his smaller engagements now? 2) If the kids weren't all sitting down, would we be have been able to find him in the crowd?

If you're living on limited means but really don't want to make do with on-line Adam and Joe Show viewing, you can pick up their delicious Best Of DVD for a paltry £ 1.53 via this link with no postage costs. It's worth it for the menu silliness alone. If you're flush with the bucks but have some straggling friends and family who have not yet embraced the oeuvre, at that price you can afford to lay in a supply of these to hurl at random visitors in a effort to kick start their journey into delectable daftness.
The BBC have finally assigned The Persuasionists into the graveyard shift but if I'm keeping my glass half full, at least it's been moved to the traditional "BBC2 Comedy Night" of Thursday.
In case you got as far as reading all of last week's blog entry, you'll no doubt want an update on Adam's Australia Song. I'm happy to report it had gone way past the 100k by the next morning and has had more than a thousand hits since then. In a happy coincidence, a Twonvo Edgar Wright started about the change of certificate on [what I like to call Joe's] Fuzzball Rally prompted a link to Joe's Cake Flushing video the next morning and such is the popularity of those BigTalkboys, that they have had nearly 10,000 views since the weekend. That will no doubt give some kind of obnoxious salve to Joe's ridiculously competitive nature, if he's not too busy to notice, that is. There's an enjoyablly related sketch here too.
I dutifully listened to Andrew Collins and Richard Herring on Saturday. They're entertaining enough but I can't see any justification in them managing to get their ruddy podcast farther up the list than Adam and Joe's has been in months. It must have something to do with new subscriptions. They just don't have the sparkle and cohesive rapport we enjoy from our boys but they make fine individual contributions and raise a few titters & cultural reference pleasurebytes. Perhaps if they'd just heeded some of the notes Joe took the time to furnish on the blog, I might have been more impressed.
There was a mid-week 6Music blog entry from James squishing the Black Squadron commands together. Perhaps you can spot yourself or a fellow squadron member in there somewhere.
Joe's film would seem to be progressing nicely. Big Talk have finally got a page prepped for it which is good news but I am slightly less excited that so far this project has gone from americanizing (americanising) 'estate' into 'block' for the title and now the blurb refers to 'housing project' instead of 'estate'. I'm thrilled that they're thinking big enough to embrace those dirty yankee doodle dandies but I do struggle with the assumption that their target audience might be in need of a translation. Perhaps I'm lucky enough to have only encountered fairly bright Americans but I'm sure audiences aren't going to expand exponetially because their lingo has been pandered to.
I could be wrong but I think the IMDB page was updated with a couple of effects guys. It says there's been no update since 15th Jan but I don't think I noticed those names last week. I mused that some of the alien action might be shot out of the country but perhaps not.
Finally, there has been great excitement this week as a lovely YouTuber pleasured us with some 'lost' XFM material. Lazybones, over at the Adam and Joe Forum spotted the uploads of "Each Passing Minute" and so far Benjamin has made three shows available that have hitherto only been a sticky memory pudding.

As a true testament to the loyalty and dedication of Adam and Joe's fans, they were prepared to register at the bloomin' Loaded website in order to vote the Podcast Princes into award winning position this week at the Laftas. As far as I can tell, neither of them went to collect the award because their lives are too exiting to waste in some Cuckoo Club, patting themselves on their beautiful backs. Joe kindly took the time out to make a blog post at 6Music for us though, proving beyond any doubt that he knows the exact areas in which to deploy his precise talents.
Most of the other links are about Adam. As previously noted, he is maintaining a gloriously high public profile. He did the Director's Cut version of BUG 17 to the usual great acclaim and Derren Brown seemed to enjoy it too. Adam also did his stand-up at Bar FM which the Twitterati attended.
Next week, he takes BUG back home to Norwich which has spawned two pages at the Norwich Evening News. The blurb here seems to just be extracts from this interview.
In order to maintain a little more balance in this post, I'm going to quote this part of the interview before going back to a couple more items from Adam.
Then, of course, there's the radio show which he presents on BBC 6Music with Joe, which is currently on hiatus, but will return later this year. Following much the same formula as their TV show, a mix of home-made songs and pop culture banter, it's one of the funniest programmes on the radio. And such is their following that the news they were going off air for a while was greeted by outpourings of grief on internet message boards. But Adam promises they'll be back.
“We did the last show just before new year and we are taking a bit of a break. Joe's gone off to direct a film, called Attack the Block, so he's going to be away for a few months while he does that and we'll come back later in the year,” Adam explains. “I'm really missing it, I can't wait to get back to it,” he says.
In between he's got a few projects on the go.
“I'm doing bits and pieces of writing and I'm making videos for my own amusement to show at things like Bug and I'm doing the odd live gig. I'm doing the odd pilot show here and there and seeing how it goes.”
Is there any chance of a role in Joe's film? “I've been hinting. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but I'm not optimistic,” he laughs.
Happily, the BBC have embraced Adam's beautifully produced and cleverly judged response to all the flack from The Persuasionists by posting it in his section at the BBC Comedy Blog. Adam has also put it on his blog.

Finally, I'm going to indulge in a little pat on my own back. I saw that Adam's brilliant Australia Song was getting into landmark figures and I wanted to tip it over the edge, so I encouraged tweeps to get their followers clicking. As I write this, it's just a few hits away from the 100,000 mark. Of course, this is entirely due to Adam's amazing talent but I'm just saying it's had more than 70 hits since lunch time.
There's nothing much out there at the moment but Buckles is still wonderfully busy, entertaining the arse out of willing chucklers around the country. There may still be tickets for some of the remaining events if you want to check the links here. Tweets from both BUG and Popcorn last week were effusively appreciative. Joe was in the audience at BUG and Louis Theroux went along to Popcorn.
You may remember that Adam did a gig at the 100 Club and this tweeter found a doodle he made in the dressing room.
The wonderful Hobbsy of Adamandjoe.com fame spotted that the other day, Adam opened a Vimeo account at last and has favourited a couple of David Oreilly's films. I think it's too much to hope that he might upload his wonderful Persuasionists Response video that he's been showing at gigs. There is also rumour of, at the very least a pilot for an on-line based BUG style show.
Half a Dozen Questions with Adam Buxton Adam gave an online interview to this small, local arts collective. It would seem he must have done the piece over a month ago but unless I am mistaken, it only popped up online yesterday.
I'm guessing that this tweet implies Joe did a bit of voice work. Whether it was for a short film, documentary or a commercial may remain a mystery until we hear his dulcet tones on air.
This is not new but when info is thin on the ground, I might as well post something that I haven't already put here. This video features an Adam and Joe inspired moment with some Stephenage.
Finally, lazybones from Hobbsy's forum stumbled upon two additional episodes of Each Passing Minute from the old XFM standing-in days. There are a whole bunch of shows that many of us felt were lost forever and we were teased with the first episode of this Radio Soap Opera feature. Now it seems there may be hope for more somewhere out there and in this lonely scrubland left in the wake of the 6Music absence, it couldn't be more eagerly anticipated.
The most heartening piece of news from my point of view is that the Attack the Block page on the IMDB updated it's status last Friday so we can all keep an eye on the movements there.
If anyone ever had some kind of nagging doubt that the aliens might be completely CGI, those fears are allayed by the inclusion of a "creature and makeup effects designer". Mr Mike Elizalde has a solid pedigree and a thorough grounding in special effects, prosthetics and puppeteering as well.
Adam has put all four parts of Alone in the Shed in one lovely package up on his YouTube Channel now. Furthermore, as far as I can see, all of his London based gigs have sold out so he'll be a happy chappy.
The second episode of The Persuasionists is on later tonight. You can still catch episode one for a couple more hours on the iPlayer. It didn't go down too well last week but may take on a cult life of it's own in due course.
James Stirling made a post at the BBC 6Music blog with the Text The Nation clip from Doctor Who. Anyone who was using Twitter at the time that episode of Doctor Who aired will know that lots of people noticed it and I was even moved to hastily grab a wonky clip from iPlayer. It was David Jeffery-Hughes who decided to send it to James and he's done a wonderful job of inserting it into the original jingle. Do take a listen!

Tomorrow night brings episode one of The Persuasionists on BBC2 at 10pm. A few of the papers have run short pieces. The Mail, The Californa Chronicle (don't ask me!) but the jewel in the promotional crown must be this interview with Adam from Saturday's Times.
The BBC got their microsite up and running a few days ago where you can even find a clip from the first episode. I'm not sure if I've linked this before but for some time now, there has been a fan site for the show.
There was a lot of Twitter chatter last week when Jonathan Ross announced that he was not going to renew his contract in July. The names of Adam Buxton and Joe Cornish, both individually and as a duo, lit up the search engines with their pining fans trying to be the first to suggest how amply they could fill the various poncy boots that Mr Ross would leave littered around the place. I raked over some old press clips and was amused by Joe's thoughts on Radio2 at the end of this article. I'm not sure he would feel exactly the same today but what do I know?
In other Adam Buxton news, the BBC Comedy Blog continued to post Adam's Alone In The Shed segments with deliciously silly notes from the beardy one himself. Even if you watched this when it was on telly, take a moment to read what Adam has to say as it's typically funny stuff. If you're struggling to watch these clips because you're a member of Exotic Squadron, the BBC have also popped them into their YouTube channel which is very thoughtful of them.
On Friday, we had a welcome surprise from James at the 6Music Blog with the news that Commander Cornballs would rescue Black Squadron from their disparate wanderings with a command during Danny Wallace's Saturday sitting-in-for show. The fruits of the Squadron's work were swiftly posted by Lovely Lucy. Remember, you can still submit photos until next Saturday, 16th January.

A clever fellow called Joel Vallie has grabbed all of Edgar's photo-a-day snaps from 2009, warmed them in his hands like so much plasticine and fashioned a beautiful video from them. If you're paying attention, you'll see Joe's happy face more than once. While we're in the Wright place, he's put his 30 Tracks of 2009 together complete with Spotify playlist.

BBC In Vision vacancies gave Joe's Song Wars clip as an example of the shows new recruits might work on. Sadly, they mean Antiques Roadshow, no the Adam and Joe Show.
Adam's departure from Twitter was mentioned in this Times article and Adam answered a few questions in The Metro today.
6 Music's very own Lauren Lavern asked listeners to send snowy photos and this one came in as a charming tribute to Adam and Joe. There's Adam's beard and Joe is even sporting his new, slightly strange, short-around-the-ears hair cut. I'm also enjoying the Commander's torpedo, cleverly disguised as a broomstick. Lucy has put it on the Adam and Joe blog too.
I forgot to link this in my end of year post but it's worth a mention that Miranda Sawyer had some nice things to say about our favourite doctors and finally, a doctor of a completely different kind is clearly missing the show and he felt moved to shout "Text The Nation" on prime time telly.

He impressed us with his YouTube pieces at Christmas, delighted us with his appearance on Miranda Hart's alternative review of the year with his Alone in the Shed segments. We will witness the fruits of his Spring 09 labours with The Persuasionists on BBC2 in a couple of weeks and now we have two stand-up dates in the calendar, and lots of loverly BUG shows.

A blog entry on the final day of the year carries some kind of stupid, extra bulk wherein appraisals and roundups are expected. This is all over and above the weight of my own heavy heart as I lament the passing of the last live utterance in who knows how long.
I'll post this in the middle of the evening, when all the young people are getting shit-faced and all the interesting people are having heated discussions over the canapes. I'm not going to upset myself by looking back over the last year with Viscount Buckules and Commander Cornballs. Maybe in two or three weeks, it won't hurt so much to remember all the fun we've had but right now, the memories are just too raw ....... and I'm probably just be a bit too lazy.

BBC 6Music did us proud throughout the festive season. We had a Best-of show on Christmas Eve and if you can find a copy of the full show somewhere(as opposed to the podcast version) it has some exclusive intros, jingles and stings, a couple of which didn't pop up in any other shows or podcasts unless I'm mistaken. ETA: It was repeated at 1am on New Year's Day so the window of iPlayer opportunity has expanded for your enjoyment.
They also brought us the 12 Podcasts of Christmas. These had a bit of jumbled logic for my silly, ordered mind. The annotations on iPlayer were all over the place as they randomly called more than one of them 'best of' or 'the second in the series'. Furthermore, they were all billed as being from old shows but podcasts #1 & #7 were from the last two Saturday shows, #5 was from the aforementioned Best-of, though the remainder were starting right back with the first ever podcasts (in MONO, never you mind). These retro podcasts were also broadcast as one hour shows, consecutively at midnight since 22nd December, making the podcasts available the minute the aired shows finished. The elves didn't make a downloadable podcast of the show that was aired on 26th December. Some (but not all) of the aired shows were cobbled together with music and jingles in a manner that I would perhaps describe as careless, in the unlikely event that I was being ungenerous. Since these shows were made from the podcasts that were made from original shows, it was bound to get messy at some point. They even included one with Garth. Regardless of the fact that I've probably listened to these podcasts a few times before, it was good to hear them on air. It also serves to remind us how lucky we've been with the length of the podcasts we've had this year. The Boxing Day one ran at nearly 80 minutes whereas they were loping in at just over 30 minutes in the old days.
Earlier in the month we discovered that Adam had done a little viral thingumy for a competition to California.
and within a few days of announcing this competition, we learned that Joe had won it! YES, the bombshell we have all been dreading whereupon Joe slips off to Hollywood (in California, you see) was deployed with very little warning or ceremony.
That's not true, readers. Of course, Joe's film has been looming closer and closer over the months but he'll not be shooting in Hollywood....yet. We knew he'd have to take a break from the show but I suppose some of us (that'll be me) had hoped he might just make it into the tenties for a couple of weeks. I think I posted a link a while ago to the effect that shooting begins in February for ten weeks so that takes us into April and he may have some long hours in the cutting room soon after that which is why we don't have a solid return date.
The Guardian was having a slow week before Christmas so they decided to do a bit of scare-mongering by making the suggestion that The Adam and Joe Show might be gone forever but they don't seem to have any more exclusive information about this than the rest of us. I'd prefer to link the British Comedy Guide's summation.
The tone of the goodbyes in the last couple of shows were ambiguous and a tad confusing to my tiny brain. It made me wonder if, with the best of intentions to return, they thought they might not be able to, either because of their other own commitments or indeed due to the demise of the digital channels at the BBC. They thanked Jude (who was their producer when they first joined the station) which sounded rather final and yet Joe seemed at pains to say they would return. I've already waffled too much on Twitter about this and it doesn't stand too much dwelling upon. Surely, there's a way to get through life without a couple of idiothholes invading your Saturday morning radiowaves?
The final live show featured Boggins turning up in a panto where he was despatched to a fictitious life with Toddy Pipkins or some orphaned child. I had been inspired by the original suggestion that the Adam and Joe Show had been branded Boggins, to use that in my Twitter nick but that was often confused with the now higher profiled Boggins the Dog about whom I have always been rather ambivalent. So the time has come to move on from that short-lived notion and I've grabbed a random name from the Boxing Day show to replace it.
Adam has been busy with the You Tube. He finally uploaded one of his brilliant mouth-swapping videos with Christmas messages from Lily Allen and all sorts. However, Party Poopers Incorporated took some kind of idiotic exception to him using their footage without permission, so he took it down and it seems we'll never see the likes of that again. I'm still kicking myself for not saving it at some point during the 36 hours it was up there. It was like the film he made for the Music Video Awards, if anyone saw that there or at BUG. Quick as a flash, he rushed us with another stunner here which I have also seen before somewhere, I think.
I don't need to remind anyone of the joy he brought to us with his Christmas Day film (see previous post). I realise he may have pre-posted the waffle on his blog but the timing of the YouTube upload is harder to control. He was thinking of his hungry subscribers even on the anniversary of Christ's rush into the world of hay and cow pops. What a guy.
While writing this, I've been shuffling some of my favourite clips which I have a habit of nibbling out of shows and podcasts. The show on 13th June and ensuing podcast are far and away the most gigglicious of the year but several others are fighting for second place in my non-existent chart of love.
I grabbed some of the webcam stuff at Glastonbury, and if I thought it wouldn't make the boys cringe with embarrassment, I'd post some here as a special end of year plopper but I'll have to restrain myself. Fond memories of Joe zoning out to Dizzie and making inappropriate gestures with the pretty coloured mike covers still play in my mind (and on my iPod).
I've collected a few random links over the last few days. Eddie Argos was moved to make an entry about Joe's film on GeekWeek yesterday. The people at Hi8us tweeted a bit about Attack The Block casting.
The IMDB still has it showing as 'In Development' but the bigger mystery is why Big Talk are only showing the trade mag cuttings but don't list it as being 'in production' whereas the lovely Tom Hollander vehicle which is barely out of R&D (well, I might be exaggerating for dramatic effect, there) has it's own little pull-down nubbin. I am not trying to cast any doubt on the production with this comment. Quite the opposite, in fact. I think this whole project might just be so immense, so awesome, so utterly stunning, innovative and gibberingly hilarious that they have decided to protect the public and annoying worry-worts like myself from getting any spoilery outfall about it. They can't keep that up for long but I guess that means that my dreams of a Paul type blog are probably going to be dashed.

I'd love to pop a scan of Joe's contribution here but I'm already having day-mares at the thought of the derision I'd probably have hurled at me if I asked permission. All the mail order copies have gone now but you might yet find a dog-eared version at the counter in the BFI Film Store.
If you're some kind of millionaire or something, you could catch the worth-every-bloomin'-penny BUG events in January. Don't be put off by the 'Fully Booked' thingy. The first one is always the better one & they have loads of returned tix from the freebies who don't turn up.
Adam is also listed here on Jan 27th so he's never going to be far away, is he? It's the same day as the Lafta awards and there's no way that Joe would accept one on his girly-own so I guess that'll be a no show there. Note: I loves Joe, I do. Never any offense meant.
The Persuasionists is finally starting to show up in listings so six weeks of Adam Buxton on the telly might serve to carry us through the first bit of the drought. @monastico alerted us to this early review from the Independent, and have a poke around here if you want a bit more info. I went to one of these recordings and before I forget, do check out Simon Farnaby in The Bunny And The Bull. Some podcast listeners will also remember that Daisy Haggard called Adam on his mobile and then hung up when he told her they were recording her. Joe also casually mentioned that he used to babysit for her. It's like their lives are made of magic, isn't it ?
He probably wouldn't thank me for mentioning it, but Headjam is back on Dave if you need a Joe fix.

I saved the best till almost last, though. When I say 'best' I never, ever mean to imply any kind of favouritism but in the absence of a short movie of Joe throwing his freakishly tall, directorly weight around the production office, Adam's gorgeous package, neatly quartered and plopped into Miranda Hart's end of year "Unwrapped" show surely must have been the best moment of the last 24 hours. Watch it while you can or wait for it to ping out from your telly screen again tomorrow at 12:40am - well technically that's the Day After Tomorrow. Adam did not feature in the red button bits but if you're a completist, you'll take a squint at them anyhow. IF he was looking, he must have been very heartened by the massively appreciative Twitter activity the instant he popped up.
I'll not make any promises but I'm chewing over the thought of dribbling some of my sound nibbles out of my Posterous feed to make people smile during the Period Of Drought. I don't want to get into trouble or upset the originators of these chunks of pleasure so I'll take a view later on........after a drink or two......by which time I will have probably decided to shut down this blog altogether.
So enjoy 2010 as much as you can. It'll only happen once. Keep the show alive by visiting the 6Music Blog and making idiotic comments and sharing artistic wonderment. Keep the station alive and warm by listening to it. Shower Adam's YouTube Channel with love and the occasional 'gay' comment. Don't shout 'Stephen' when you see Joe in a comic store because you know he'll go bright red and panic but most of all, get on with your lives and before you know it, Saturday mornings will be restored to their former glory and the cogs of the podmax maker will be whirring into action again and warming our cockills.
It would be close to insanity for me to whittle away at a finely tuned blogpost on this most intensely celebratory of days however, the following nugget will be rather more redundant tomorrow so don't miss today's gift from Cilla, Santa and Count Buckules. ETA: I see the lovely man has put it on his blog just now. The sweetest bloke on the net.
Adam had put a great deal of work into making another Christmas message that he then removed at the behest of the party-poopers in the 4Music playpen. It's a crying shame as it was a even more genius (and much longer) than this piece.
My home has minimal festive decoration but I took care of all the important areas, one of which is suitable for the internet.
I'll throw some more nonsense together over the next few days as I have somehow managed to find other exciting things to fill my time and neglected this silly corner, shamefully.

Adam Buxton did a tea-time platform with Spike Jonze at the Apple Store in Regent Street today. With the marches and the crowds in town this weekend, t wouldn't surprise me if it had taken him 3 hours from the end of podcast recording until tea-time to walk the few yards down Regent Street from the 6Music Studio to the Apple Store.
I'd already booked to see Where the Wild Things Are at the BFI, with the promise of a post screening Q & A, which prevented me from going to the Apple Store but I'm pleased to report that lovely Adam snuck across the river with Mr Jonze and slipped into an empty seat to watch the BFI bit.
I hope he's still having a lovely evening, going to special places where the dirty public aren't allowed. I'm pretty sure he scuttled into the BFI's Green Room straight after the show while Spike spent a commendable amount of time talking to interested filmgoers.

For my part, I was a little grumpy that the BFI journo just asked bog-standard, obvious questions that are going to be all over the junket output anyway. When you pay for a special screening, you expect a bit more thought and care. I'm sure Adam's take would have been more fun and I think he mentioned on today's show that there had been a point when he was in the frame to do this one too.
I really don't like that last negative entry popping up at the top of my blog so I'm dashing in like an advance party from Reindeer Squadron with some lovely little bits to look forward to from the magical, festive trees around the Castle ramparts.
