6Music Show starting a bit later from December

Today, there has been lots of cruel chatter from the Twitterati about poor (but ultimately unendurable) George Lamb shunting, to what is essentially one up from the graveyard shift on a Saturday morning. This will effect our favourite show.

The BBC Press Office has made it's official statement. This is how the Saturday Schedule will look from 5th December.
BBC 6 Music's new Saturday schedule

7.00-10.00am George Lamb
10.00am-1.00pm Adam & Joe
1.00-3.00pm Liz Kershaw
3.00-5.00pm Richard Bacon
5.00-7.00pm Jon Holmes
7.00-10.00pm Craig Charles' Funk & Soul Show
10.00pm-Midnight 6 Mix

The next flood of chatter will be about Black Squadron, no doubt.

I'd like to think that this rescheduling is pursuant to Adam and Joe's renewed contract and quite possibly a request from them to make the show an hour later. I hope they can wield that level of power at 6 since their show is always at the top of 6Music's iPlayer chart*.

It really doesn't make much sense to have an elite squadron sashaying up to the DAB at 10 am for a leisurely coffee with Marmite soldiers and still have them thinking they're in any way 'special'. I'm sure some other catchy hook will organically find it's way out of their locker and into our routine before long.

In other news, Joe has finally given his MySpace the Guy Garvey. Sad for that handful of people who used to waffle over there and a real shame to loose some of the pictures with their silly comments.

On Saturday, we learned that Andrew Collins and Richard Herring will be standing in for next week's show. I suspect Andrew couldn't face another berating rant from Richard at his lack of inclusion. I rather enjoy getting annoyed with them. They have a strange dynamic together. It works beautifully.

*The iPlayer got lost in the Castle dungeons for about 36 hours over the weekend and the ensuing podcast shoots off into hyperspace at around 42 minutes. Guard your ears from the super sonic audio insult if you get that far. It's around when Adam starts to talk about Bob Dylan's moving tribute to Christ's glorious birth.
Edited to add that the Castle put a bit of spit and polish on the podcast and plopped a perfect version into our boxes on Tuesday morning so throw out your old and bring in the new.

The weekday 6Music schedule is looking very, very comfortable now. I love those girlies all over the middle of the day, nicely topped & tailed (is that in any way rude?) with the the enjoyable stalwarts of digital radio.

Finally, I just heard Joe's little voice doing a Terry's Chocolate Orange ad, Countdown stylie. I've got a bit of a problem with the mix as his voice comes up but I'll live with it :smiley emoticon:

Attack the Block update!

If it's in Empire, then it must be true.
I thought production was farther down the line than this but I'm not complaining. I happen to be free in February if they need me!
It’s been circling for a while, but today it was finally confirmed that Attack The Block, the sci-fi comedy that will mark the directorial debut of the taller half of Adam & Joe, Joe Cornish, will start filming in February.
Edited to add that Joe also confirms this during his Arts Attack interview at The Roundhouse which was recorded a week earlier.

The story of a gang of Sarf London teenagers who are forced to defend their tower block from alien invasion, Attack The Block will see the culmination of Cornish’s increased involvement in the movie world.

Lately, for example, he’s co-written, with Edgar Wright, the screenplay for Steven Spielberg’s The Adventures Of Tintin: The Secret Of The Black Unicorn, and is still working on the script for Wright and Marvel’s Ant-Man. Attack The Block, though, is a solo screenplay from the man who once narrated Empire’s short-lived TV show, Orange & Empire At The Movies.

Word on Cornish’s screenplay has been stellar for a while now, and we’re already looking forward to this one. The film will be a co-production between Big Talk and Optimum Releasing, with Nira Park and James Wilson producing. Edgar Wright is one of the film’s executive producers, along with Matthew Justice, Tessa Ross, Will Clarke and Jenny Borgars.

“Attack The Block is one of the most inventive and entertaining scripts we have ever read and a great project to kick off the relationship [with Big Talk],” said Will Clarke, CEO of Optimum Releasing. “We look forward to seeing the film come alive and thrilling audiences around the world."
Love the way they are using Joe's gorgeous bed-head picture.

Optimum Releasing is good news. They've gone from strength to strength over the last few years. I bloody love some of their choices. They've got a nice little trailers channel on YouTube and that.
Will it be too much to hope that we might get some Paul/Scott Pilgrim stylie production treats thrown at our stupid, eager, net-gazing faces?

The main thrust of the news is about the Optimum/Big Talk handshake.
This from Screen International.
The first film out of the deal will be Joe Cornish’s directorial debut Attack The Block, which will be launched at the next week’s American Film Market. Developed by Big Talk, and backed by Film 4 and UK Film Council, Attack the Block is about a gang of South London teenagers defending their tower block against an alien attack.

......and Variety.
The first project to come out of the Big Talk-Optimum deal will be Joe Cornish's "Attack the Block," about a gang of South London teenagers defending their tower block against an alien attack. Cornish's screenplay was the subject of keen interest in the U.K. film industry earlier this summer with studio interest in acquiring the project before Optimum topper Will Clarke prevailed.
THR has it covered too but it's all the same press statement waffle really.
Joe Cornish's directorial debut "Attack The Block," which will debut to buyers at next week's American Film Market via Studio Canal's sales arm, will be first out of the new look pact between the three.

What a delicious luxury for a British film with a debut feature director going in front of the cameras with distribution deals potentially in place.

Big ol' hearts going out to Cornballs.

This blogger has brought together all the little nibbles we've been sampling over the months. At first glance, the only omission is the lovely Robin Cooper AudioBoo and the little podcast reference to when Joe was storyboarding in August.
An attractive young woman walks home through dark, dangerous streets in south London. She falls into an ambush. Five ghoulish, hooded youths surround her— they take her mobile, her purse, her engagement ring, but they want more. Just then, a fireball explodes out of the sky and destroys a nearby parked car.

From the wreckage emerges a vicious little alien that the youths hunt down, kill and triumphantly parade back to their block. But their adventure is not over. The night is still young and the attack on the block has only just begun…

Surely, it can't be long before the IMDB entry edges out of "In Development" status so that the fan-buzz can begin.

Cam shots that made me smile......

On today's BBC 6Music show.

Looking at the Black Squadron command photos for "In Pants, In Street".

Joe laughing at Adam's beautiful Spanish guitar freeplay.

A kneeling faun. Just made me smile to see a long-legged, grown man kneeling on his chair like a kid. Furthermore, I'm fed up with worrying about Joe's posture and pursuant bad back.

The end of the show, hurrah!
The other webcam revealed that this is in fact the Commander showing the strains of being on night duty in his tireless efforts to service the needy women of the nation.

and they're off.........

Electric Proms - BBC6 Music has the visual evidence

The dictates of my heady social life have made this update a little tardy. I'm fairly pleased I didn't go into some lengthy waffle yesterday because I believe this little film says it all, or at least, quite a lot.

A bulging thank you to Adam, Joe, James and all the other people involved in bringing this wonderful hour of fun to us (or just under 13 minutes if you weren't there).

I know the BBC media isn't always available worldwide so you can find this split into three parts on YouTube.

I'm in a mood for some pointless drivel so I'll start by saying how warm and stupidly relieved I felt to see Adam togged up in his cycle gear. His L-bone must have fully recovered and his sudden chin alopecia seems to have abated as well. Buckles order has been restored.
Update: Really sad to say that either the MRI link on Saturday's show was a total sham, or the Lbone is not so painful as to prevent him at least wearing his cycling gear. So just when he starts to feel a bit better, someone steals his bike. This is rough justice of an extraordinary kind......just because of one indiscretion with an umbrella.

Was that Danny Wallace's voice doing the intro?

I was surprised that Joe didn't know why Adam's Quicktime/VLC comment caused a giggle or two. VLC is the final refuge of the stubborn media file but it's so bloomin' unstable. You don't want to go there unless you really can't 'Ctl, Clk. OpenWith' your way out of trouble using another media app. That said, at one point, Adam started to launch FinalCutPro and we'd still be sitting there waiting for it to load, if he hadn't swiftly aborted. I guess Joe must have a runner to open his media files for him nowadays, hence his confusion.

As with BUG, the show was driven from Adam's Mac and he had a nice bunch of silly files on his desktop. I'd seen some before but there were new ones too. Joe mused that the only genuine file was the one marked "Pictures of my genitals".

The compilation of some karoake entries was very satisfying, especially as several contributors were in the audience. It's a pity the video doesn't feature the Emmett family a bit more. You can see them sitting near the front of the audience but Joe talked to them quite a bit (and very sweetly, at some length after the recording). He should cast them in his film. Where else would you find an entire family so closely attuned and ready to perform?

Take a moment to see what a miracle young Ben Mercer worked with Joe's already wonderful song, bleeding fingers and all. All that talent and yet he looked so sweetly nervous sometimes.

Didds & Trish entertained everyone waiting in the entry line by emerging for a quick coffee swathed in scarves to hide their chin make-up. Their performance on the day was even better than their winning YouTube entry. If they were nervous, it didn't show and they really looked like they enjoyed themselves.

It's a shame Joe only sang over the fully mixed version of Dr Sexy but that concern pales in comparison to Adam's attempt to undermine the entire performance by pretending he'd never heard the song before with his weirdly detached portrayal of Nurse Totties. He was even trying to steal the limelight with a silly dance at the beginning. (Had to say that to balance the bit about Joe not knowing why VLC is a problem).
If you're wondering why Joe chose to serenade Ben, it was because he was the only person in the room with tight enough jeans. That's not entirely true because my jeans were very, very tight but I'd had a big breakfast and there's no cure for the particular strain of sexy disease that I have. Joe would have been all night trying to sort me out. Anyway, as you can see, Ben felt dirty after all that and from where I was sitting, it looked like he employed the international symbol for "I'm not yet comfortable enough with my sexuality to have a man almost twice my age run his mike up and down my body" but what do I know?

In reply to Joe's rendition of Dr Sexy, Adam did his Sushi song which he told us he put together some time ago in order to save the rhino (mission accomplished, I believe). Time didn't allow it to be included in this video, apparently but I enjoyed it. Joe doesn't like sushi. How does that work?

Adam told us of a pitch idea he blamed on Joe, to make a show called Silly Question Time and proceeded to pick random silly questions previously written down by the audience. When the author of the enquiry had been located, they were accosted with inappropriate touching and forced to read it out. The replies were the usual freeform we have grown to love.

Joe wanted to give us a teaser for some of this weekend's made-up jokes and delighted in the contemporary nature of an HD based item. Adam would have preferred a Blue Ray gag so put your thinking caps on.

Boggins the dog made a brief visit to the stage area but Adam managed to wrangle him into a box. Sadly, said box was a little bit too small for him which made it impossible for him to move his jaw. Joe wanted to take the temperature of the humane culling climate in the room and I think he seemed fairly pleased at the general enthusiasm to keep the sweet, stinky, old thing alive.

Edited to add that I completely forgot they showed their 1998 pop promo for Sweet Johnny couched in a brief anecdote about Dom Joly (had any new ideas lately?) and The Chart Show. Happily, this particular nugget is on the Tube for You.

It all went by too quickly but was gratifyingly rounded off with the much talked about silly home movie featuring the impossibly young Joe, Louis and Adam jerking around to Dee-Lite's "Groove is in the Heart". This was shown at the Greenwich BUG and one of the BUG 15s and I was quite miffed that I had previously missed it. It was demented. Thank you.

Here's the main Adam And Joe, Electric Proms page in case you missed it. It has about a dozen (that's twelve, Joe) photos.

I snagged one myself (see above) and in the video you might have noticed the extraordinary backdrop with a bearded Joe. Goodness knows why I find that strangely erotic. (shut up, Goodness. Keep it to yourself)

Finally, you may like to check out the day through the eyes of another blogger, here.

Nice little plug for Adam in the Independent

Viscount* Buckules hits the newstands again with a nice little plug for his gig next week.

Hmm......I really wonder if I can make this.......and then be too shy to look him in the eye.

Electric Proms - BBC Website has pictures!

As the life of this blog rests in the balance due to slowly seeping embarrassment, I couldn't let the day pass without making some kind of post. I wasn't sure what to waffle on about but then the very efficient Electric Proms platoon of the Castle's cyberstaff put some snaps up at lightening speed.

So fill your boots with this little bunch.

I might come back with something silly to say about lunchtime with Adam and Joe but right now, all you need to know is that Ben was amazing, despite his sore throat and sick joke.
Adam and Joe
This was when Joe serenaded Ben Mercer. Just noticed the BBC are encouraging hotlinks.

Apparently, we'll have some video evidence sometime tomorrow (4pm has been mentioned elsewhere), according to Jane. I'm fairly confident I was hiding in plain sight.

Adam Buxton updates his blog

.......would it seem too needy to add 'at last' to that subject heading?

Details of BUG 16 and a Neil Young nugget from the Papal of Pop Video here.

If you're not sure what a BUG is like you can have a little taster lookie here. Not one soul I have recommended to see it has been disappointed, in fact it soon becomes a highlight of their social calendar.

And the winners are!

Well, I got one of them right and in any language, that's half, isn't it?

Very well done to all the entrants and most of all, to the lucky winners.

I hope you have the most delirious fun you can without taking your clothes off.

Nutty Room winners were Clemmers or Didds & Trish

...and as predicted.......Sontum of Quolace was won by Ben Mercer or @RightClickMusic or Tristram ....whatever.

I still can't believe how wonderful this entry is. I want a signed copy of your 'best of' CD, Ben.

Electric Proms Karaoke - You decide!

Here are as many entries as I could find for the Adam And Joe Karaoke Song Wars Electric Proms competition. The entry would be much too lumpy if I embedded all the little blighters.

Be warned that most of them are deliciously disturbing so don't watch them too late at night. There are some innovative props and plops. Some are best viewed with your sound card removed but with one possible exception, they are a work of true dedication that I can only salute and stand in awe of.

While I scrape myself of the awe-floor, I see that the sweetest man on the planet has diligently posted a comment on each of the Nutty Room entries. If that doesn't make them all proud, I don't know what will. We can't really expect the same from the Haughty Commander but we live in hopes.

I've tried to put them in order of submission date because I think that's worth consideration.

These are all the Nutty Room entries I could find.

Tardy Notification of BUG 16

This might be a BUG I have to miss but at the very least, it will be a last minute limbo under the wire. They're on the 12th and 20th November. One early, one later.

Silly season for films right now so I have to keep my options open for that one-in-a-million Q & A session with a demi-god.

Snooker - Buxton Stylie

Stop in now, Adam. Chuckle muscles need a rest, thank you, good.

A quick look at today's webcam.

1) Joe, what would Mummy say if she saw you with your feet on the furniture?

2) Best shot I could find of the Buckles Bandaging. Feel better, Adam. Ben is back! Joe is being too tall for the frame again.

3) There's Joe neatly folding himself into frame and the Beardless Buxton. Does that mean he's going to be on the telly? What are they doing for Fiona Bruce, and when? Perhaps he's just been to the bank manager for a loan.

Black Squadron Badges & T-Shirts

I really hope I'm not making a netiquette faux pas but I wanted to draw attention to the great work of Swede who has finally supplied us with much needed livery.

Please be sure that you are entitled to print & wear one of these. Only the elite listening squad may, in all good conscience, call themselves Black Squadron members. If you're not sure, click here.

Imagine the untold joy you'll have when you've deployed your card, scissors and glue to good effect.

You can even share photos of your handiwork here.

I couldn't resist this little display.

==========================================================

In the interest of fairness, this seems like a good time to link the amazing t-shirts by AdamK which I hope are still available here.

It helps when your mentor is a Shynola boy.

but that is not to take anything away from this wonderful winning entry for Ctrl.Alt.Shift's competition, featuring the ever more versatile voice of Adam Buxton.

Have a poke around the site for some other delicious treats and see my earlier post about festival activity.

Mumble to the Nation

........text the nation, retroText the nation, future text the nation, mediaeval text the nation, sci-fi text the nation, Japanese text the nation. You choose.

Twitter news:

@NotAPretender managed to secure a promise from @weeclaire that the full show would be listened to this week and NAP felt that this caused for a test, probe or 'Twizzle', if you will. I will admit to throwing these together a bit. I was not able to listen so attentively myself until later tonight........but here were my suggestions. I await @weeclaire's response

Question 1:- Which book about a dog and an autistic boy is Chavez demanding his subjects read?

Question 2: What's the name of the new single from Wild Beasts according to Adam?

Question 3: According to Joe Cornish, what would Alastair Stewart really like to call the Once Proud Queen of Europe?

Bonus easy question: Which section is the Adam & Joe show filed in?

Bit tardy but I'll put the answers in a comment, should anyone even remember this....or care.

Networthy Nuggets

How easily we become blasé. Edgar posted a third picture of Joe (in as many weeks) and I didn't even bother to link it. It made it's onto the Guardian Monkeyblog, but I couldn't be arsed.

Of course, that is not, in any way a truism. I was fumbling with other areas of my life and felt the need to rest this little blog for a few days.

Other Adam and Joe items to pop into the brainial cranial this week have been a couple of new blog entries giving a selection of their FAVOURITE Black Squadron photos from both the Pan Hat command and Poltergeist invasion. The blog entries also give links to the full galleries because their pledge to safeguard the listeners' trust means they have to pretend that there are no favourites.

There's a sniff of a rumour about something Count Buckules might be doing and lots of buzz about his dear, thomosexual friend. Once again, Adam will be presenting the MVAs at the Odeon Leicester Square for anyone lucky enough to get tix. Adam continues to narrate the BBC2 Philippe Starck doco Design For Life, he's doing a DJ slot tomorrow evening and a stand up slot in the 100 Club at the end of the month.

Joe is doing absolutely nothing at all. Not even playing with himself.*

So we come to the Electric Proms. The sweet, innocent jocks actually believed they weren't going to get any entries. It really never entered their fragile, self-deprecating minds that people were taking time to make amazing audition tapes.

Obviously, nobody would want to suffer the fate of Toddy Pipkins, the poor little lame boy whose sad disabilities might mean his entry won't reach them until a nano second after 4pm on 14th October, 2009 but people love Adam and Joe so very much.....
1) They want to impress them more than anything else they hold dear in life.
2) They want to see what other people do before they commit to their masterpiece.
3) They want to stand a better chance than the next person of actually worshiping in the comfort of Boggins' basket.
4) They know that idiotholes like me will find their entries, blog their entries, probably even tweet their entries and generally expose them to the ridicule of recognition.

I could go on but I was boring myself again. Do a search on YouTube and you might see some of the recent offerings. My search skills don't seem to be brill enough to come up with any MySpace results as yet. Don't forget to try for some tickets to watch the event.

In other news this week, I seem to have adopted a habit of changing my Twitter name to whatever catches my ear in The Show of the Week and on this occasion, it happily coincided with James' choice of podcast title. This feature may well be a one-off and cannot, in any way, be guaranteed as reliable.

Seen Ricky's film, seen a lady-man in a dress tell me about her life for a couple of hours, watched a week in the life of Orson Welles, saw David Hare's new play but the one thing I may not be in a position to do tomorrow is.........fully immerse myself into BBC 6Music listening.
I'm pretty sure I'll find a way to make Black Squadron but it may not have my undivided attention and if you're hoping for some more demented Twidiothole action, you'll be languishing in the joy deficit department.
I do what I can. What I can't do, will do no harm.

Sunday afternoon at iPlayer. Be proud.

* Joe is working, of course, like a ninny on his hoody film, chewing the end of his pens with Edgar and the Ant, playing with himself and anyone else he imagines into his little world.

Webcam And Waffle from the morning

Sadly, didn't manage to squeeze the Fist in the Chips sequence into the final edit but the good news is that making this silly blob of a thing meant I was able to put off some much more serious stuff until tomorrow, so all is not lost.

BUG 15: in the comfort of your own home.

It's Friday night. One of those special Friday nights when Adam Buxton gets himself all comfy in a little chair, grabs his lappy & trundles over one side of the stage at NFT1 to present the latest BUG.

Wait a minute! It's on early this month and you can't leave work in time to get there. You live miles away from London in some other proper city somewhere. You may even live in another country with Rupert Everett where fun doesn't get presented to you in such abundance.

Well, this is your lucky BUG because you can almost join in the fun by gently wandering through this overlong blog entry. Start reading at 6:30 pm and pretend that you are there!

Sadly, I don't have the wonderful Buckles script despite repeated requests. No, that was similar to one of those little lies that Joe likes to tell. I've never even thought of asking Adam or indeed David and if they are half the men I think they are, they would be much too scared to interact with this blog, so phew.

I am not insane enough to have ever attended both BUGs in one month so I don't know quite how reliable the claim is that each presentation is the same but here is a rough outline of what happened a week ago. What I do know is that the Greenwich Special Edition bunch were treated to a Buxton home-movie that we didn't get.

BUG 15: The Evolution of Music Video

Once you've settled into your computer-based seat, you're going to have to imagine a wonderful title sequence made especially for BUG by Miland Suman & Phil Tidy. Then Adam will rush onto the stage to be greeted with much excitement from his supplicants.

He'll start with an update on this week's personal injury or visit to the doctor, just to get the audience in his pocket and then he'll introduce little clusters of music video genius output.

I am going to link to bands' sites, Vimeo, MySpace and YouTube, depending upon what is easily available. If you want to make your evening more life-like and prolonged, you can check the comments left at YouTube and practice your Buxton-style delivery when reading them aloud. Don't forget that everything in capitals must be SHOUTED but then you can turn to your audience and apologise that the inclusion of said capital necessitated the harsh delivery.

First up is Cold Play's Stawberry Swing by Shynola (who reside in one of Riddle's shops, if you like silly bits of info like that). Poor old Shynola had to defend themselves from daft people earlier this week.

That was followed by this video from David Stringberg & Johan Bring.

Lucy And The Teenage Monster - Dance Steps.

Muto Masashi's made the next film.
Tiësto and Sneaky Sound System - I Will Be Here

Hmmm, this is where I am consumed with self-loathing because I can't remember at which point the lights went up for more hilarious Buckules banter but I think it was now.
If you happened to be in earshot of Edgar Wright's childishly invasive laughter, you will not have been able to catch all of Adam's comments but it's good to hear people enjoying themselves, isn't it?

Ben and Joe Dempsey's video for Just Jack started the next section, if I remember correctly.

and then we had Nir Ben Jacob's film

The Walkmen - On the Water.

This section ended with a film from George Wu

Depending upon how big a music video nerd you are, the next part of the evening would either have had you dribbling, genuflecting or dashing out to fetch another beer.
Tangent Alert: this event is one of the few at the BFI (or any other cinema) where you will find people wandering in and out of the auditorium to fetch bar treats, several times in one evening. The only other time you will really witness this much disrespectful clambering around is at something like the Barbican's Tropfest winners' screening or some other shorts festivals.

I digress. Tonight's special guest was Tim Pope. Adam made various papal jokes and then kindly explained them to us before introducing the man himself onto the stage. Mr Pope is an icon that defies description from someone as silly as this blogger so scoot around, look him up and take a few moments to sit in wonder at all he has brought to you over the years. His film for Soft Cell's Sex Dwarf was the crowning glory of this set and I doubt I will see the likes anytime soon.

Another silly aside from this part of the evening is that most of Tim's output was presented to us via the Buxton Mac and once again, he treated us to an intimate view of his desktop. HOWEVER, he's got wise to the fascination the gathering might have with his private parts and made an hilarious collection of spurious folders for us to chortle at. So much so, that we were too busy looking and laughing to catch all of his warbles & he had to cover them up again. A small sample from memory.....

John Leslie's Comeback project
Barack Obama's emails/photos
Woody Allen Collaboration
Begging Letters from BBC3
Amusing Things to say at Dinner Parties (though I can imagine that Adam might ordinarily have a file with that name)
and there was one about Peter Andre. Damn my stupid memory.

When the likes of David and Phil have taken such care to present the cream of music video output to us, I feel reluctant to single out one film but this piece from Masashi Kawamura, Hal Kirkland, Magico Nakamura & Massayoshi Nakamura really is a pleasurable thing to waft in front of your eyes.

SOUR / 日々の音色 (Hibi no Neiro) MV.

If you have a bit of time, wander around the web to read a little more about this piece.

Did I imply that last film was my favourite? You must have misunderstood. How could I be so selective? This was another amazing presentation from Chris Cairns for Neurosoncs Audiomedical. Click the 'FILM' link when you get to their website. I defy you to keep your head still while this you watch this.

This next film from Eric Wareheim is best viewed after you've read as many YouTube and Vimeo comments as you can endure. If you don't have time, just remember it's 'demeaning' 'offensive' and 'racist'. Yes, of course it is. What were you thinking, Eric ?
EDITED: Vimeo seems to have taken this down and YouTube has disabled embedding so it's just an age sensitive linkie.

The final film had me moving forward in my seat (because, as you probably know, being an extra seven inches closer to the screen can actually make you become part of it). This does have an 'explicit content' heading at YouTube, so there, you have been warned.

It's going to be tricky to completely transport you to the final part of the evening. Everyone drifts past concerned looking NFT Front Of House staff as they wonder if they'll ever be able to get the mess cleared up in time for the next scheduled film. You don't have far to walk because in the last few years, the BFI realised that it's movie museum was poncey and what people really wanted was a cool bar to hang out it. Fortunately, several areas of this bar will resemble your own opulent living room, so grab a beer or bottle of wine, some chips (but don't let Joe & Edgar mistake them for canapes) and chat excitedly about all you have just seen while trying not too give too many sideways glances towards all the amazingly attractive young people milling around you.

Have I hit an all time low of over-egged blog entries?

Bit of a post script here
Thanks to the wonders of Twitter, I have been reminded that we were also delighted with this from St Sanders.

Here are the programme notes.

Finally and added sometime after the fact, the BFI have uploaded a snip from BUG14 to give you a flavour of Adam's performance.

More Wright/Cornish visual teasing

It's going to seem like a double tweet when my feed sucks this up and throws it to the birds but I'm sure my dedicated blog follower will survive.

Edgar has been away, long time. Edgar is back & up for maximum London entertainment. You'd think he'd want to catch up with all the friends he's missed so dearly. A different one each night, perhaps? Well, maybe but he can never be too far away from Cornballs, apparently (and who can blame him?). It's our great fortune that a) they are joined-at-the-hip and b) Edgar is pictastic.

Once again, my prudish, self-imposed netiquette rules won't let me steal the pic & put it here but I can't let the morning end without linking it.

Save Adam Buxton's face!

Man, this is big. This is not a Blue Peter Druggie Scandal. This is not a Ross Branding episode. This is a gross error by one of the little people and they must be brought to justice (or taken to a really nice coffee shop for a gentle dressing down).
Supreme Tweeter WickWox, alerted me to an indiscretion last night, so outrageous that it has now become a Twitterpaign.

Save Adam Buxton's lovely [sic] Face from the Castle's absolute injustice.

As I hope you can see from the combo-pic (click to enlarge), if you go to the Regular iPlayer you'll get the most blissful picture of the best radio duo currently on air.

However, if you try to take the Castle's kiddie-style Big Screen option for a whirl, in WickWox's words, Count Buckules seems to be sporting a 6Music Pirate Patch. Yes, it's very, very sexy but is it right?

If you stayed with the grown-ups version of the iPlayer you would have been given an option to use the Pop-Out Player.
Always a convenient little nubbin to have on your desktop while you do other important work around the net, but wait a cotton-picking minute! Who in Boggin's Basket has been allowed to make the decision that it's OK to completely flag out Buckles' beautiful smiling face?
This is made worse when you realise the Pop-Out option is the one used at the Listen Again link on the Adam and Joe page at BBC 6Music!

My pan is firmly in the hat position. We need to mobilise all Squadrons in our most important operation to date. Hopefully, Commander Cornish will call the troups to action and we can right this wrong before sundown

Now it's Adam's turn to be on Edgar's photo feed

This photo was taken by Charlie from UltraCulture, last night in Benugo. So many sweet men, so little time.

I'm not sure if I will blog about BUG15. It was almost too awesome to talk about ..........and I am balancing a pan on my head at the moment.

Joe treats and Adam treats, all in one day.

First of all, a tweeted treat via Robert Popper to a tiny audio boo, Robin Cooper stylie, with Joe Cornish. I don't know what made me happier - seeing a little picture of Joe or getting dangerously close to hearing some more about Attack the Block. Made my morning coffee taste a whole lot better, either way.

This joy was followed, fast on the heels by my finally be able to sort out a double booking error. Tenacity and calm confidence always rules and nowhere is this more true that at a BFI screening.

I'd originally plumped for BUG on 25th as I thought I might have a more pressing family thing today (18th). That thing went away but my favourite film club (work it out) scheduled a screening of a tv drama on 25th at the same time as BUG. I am strangely addicted to seeing tv on the big screen (holds my concentration more in a big dark room, I guess) so I was grumped at the Clash of the Items. Today's BUG had sold out during the members booking period I believe, so every time I checked I got the blue bar of fully bookedness. I was cool. I had faith. Sure enough, they released some of those naughty seats they keep back for the special people and I got lucky. Such is my faith in being able to get tix to sold out events, I had already lined up a willing taker for next week's.

The last time I adopted this guerilla-style seat booking option at the BFI it meant that I was plonked in a seat surrounded by more media heroes than an old woman can be expected to tolerate. I was scared I might have a Roger Moore moment, but I was cool.

Just remember, 'sold out' rarely means sold out. There's always a chance & a returns line is never quite as long as you might think it is. I sat next to sweet John Schlesinger (and Anthony Andrews) at a 'sold out' k d lang concert once, just because I popped up at the right time for a return. Let me tell you, it doesn't get much more heady than that!

So, I'm off to see Adam and BUG 15 this afternoon. I might even have a walk on the beach at the South Bank to calm my nerves. I won't be signing autographs today but I will be accepting drinks in Benugo's afterwards. Have you tried their pint glasses full of little sausage rolls? Nummmm. (I'll be the fat one in the corner, on my own).

I'm a bit of a netiquette narna when it comes to hotlinking or even stealing pictures but as we all know if you say you don't normally approve of something just before you do it, it's perfectly all right to go ahead.
Thank you, Robert/Robin. This gives me pleasure on way too many levels.

Unrelated? What do you mean? Edgar is home

and Joe is h.a.p.p.y

the playmates are finally reunited

Pirulo news: Podcast is up & Holiday Blues available for download.

I have surprised myself with my own arrogance again by suggesting that some people look here before they might check the actual Adam and Joe blog but it's really a thinly veiled attempt to put some content on this bloomin' thing.
James has popped Adam's extraordinary "Coming Back From Holiday Blues" symphony on the blog as a hard, in-your-ear download.

Podcast is up and I realise I am descending deeply into old age. There is what I suspect is a stingle (not really a jingle but too big for a sting) at 40 mins which I have a hazy memory of being at the beginning of an older podcast but each time I hear it (OK, I've listened nearly 3 times now) it sounds fresh enough for me to laugh like a horse. Is it new or is my brain very, very old?

Last week, I made a few potted, random comments about the show but that only works if you're in the moment. It's not real if you have time to think about it, I find. So I shall comment on the Podcast while I listen.......again.

1) I don't like hearing Joe talk about periods (even when he whispers it) or the way he said arse crack but I did like the sound of Adam moving his mike.

2) Love Adam being the grown-up moderator and fore-warner of silly rude bits moving into James keeping the bit where Joe sweetly asks if what they've laid down so far is going to be OK for a Castle podcast. Love Adam sensitively having the grouchy blues in synch with his wife and Joe's apparent lack of empathy.

3) Glad they finally dissed sexy bored link lady.

4) I have the "s t i n g flbldlbl" sting as my text alert so I've had phone-based disappointment three times today.

5) I nominate Joe to make a made-up fact jingle because a) he is the main guilty party and b) the show is always Adam jingle heavy. YES - he is really good at them but if I can generate a little bit of competitiveness about this, Joe is bound to accept the challenge.

6) Staggered that Joe can pronounce Des Moines perfectly but doesn't know it's in Iowa.

7) Pleased to see Boggins back in the studio but I am worried it might be a bit too silly (and you know my silly threshold is very low) I like the premise where Joe pretends Boggins in uninteligable and I thought his 'ouch' acting and general timing was as good as when we heard him wailing and crying at the start on the XFM show that he did on his own because Adam was Spooning at a festival.

8) I knew someone who's boyfriend called her kneebles Kevin and Kevina. Love Joe's giggle when they get back on track. I don't know anyone that can contain a laugh so far back in their throat. Wish I could have a look and see how he does that.

9) Song Wars is BACK! When Adam's song started I thought he'd really excelled himself with a few different features and then he went and did the talky bit and it went on a tad too long but there is SO much to commend it. Part of me thought it was going to be too good for Joe to touch even though I have no intention of voting (Don't Make Me Choose).

Joe's song is called "Bathtime for Bowie" even though the Castle doesn't list it as such. He's right, it cant touch Adam's production value but there are some lovely naughty bits and it's almost like an anthem to all their little Bowie impression phrases. Fave reaction from Adam to Joe's reigning it in comment. "Do you think you're working on Newsnight, or something?"

10) Glad to see that Adam's picked up a proper BBC2 voice-over gig tonight for a 6 parter at 9pm (Design for Life) because he really does have the most bountiful delivery basket. I also note that there's signed repeat on Thursday which he is bound to have some fun with.

11) I know it's a necessity but I always feel a little bit deflated when Joe alludes to the fact that the listener based content is filtered before it reaches him. I know it happens but I don't like to be reminded. That said, I rarely attempt to interact with them (heaven forfend) though I was one of the millions(oh really?) who screamed CARRIE at them.

12) Adam did a gentle little 'let me tell you something, baby sister' voice when Joe couldn't get his head around Wymondham. He loves him so much.

13) Loved Joe's impression of Piper Laurie and Sissy Spacek

14) So Adam has production logistic anxieties, too. I have less of a problem with tv stuff but I often have these moments invading my dream state when I'm watching a doco film in the cinema. I get it with dramatic movies too which is very troublesome because it's the entire nature of a dialogue based film. It's a curse. It's like when someone explains changeover dots to you. Life is never the same.

15) I firmly believe Joe overheard me pose the same 'is it too late to find him and punch the silly Scottish Pirulo from Alone in the WIld?' question to a friend.

16) both Adam AND Joe were the best this week, apparently. I think that pretty much flies in the face of the Big British Castle's trust when words like 'best' are allowed to be bandied about as if they have been demoted from their superlative status. We've had this debate with Adam's jingle.

17) I've listened three times to the giggle attack at 43 minutes and I still don't know what they actually found so ruddy funny.

18) Still thinking about Joe enjoying some lovely Tutti Frutti flavour.

19) Nice email addy work there. Situation normal.

20) Why do the Castle mice imagine that there might be any merit in listening to the Jon Richardson podcast straight after this one? How much disappointment can a person endure? My advice, listen to the Adam and Joe podcast at least three times and leave Jon alone until you have an attack of insomnia.

I do have lickle grabs from the webcam but I've waffled for too long already.

1000 Voices at Raindance

1000 Voices, the short animation film which Adam Buxton voiced is showing at the Raindance Film Festival next month.

The director has a blog here though he is less that vigorous with his entries. There's quite a bit more info from him here including a bit about Adam.
How did Adam Buxton get involved?

Adam really supports the independent film scene in London and is a particular fan of animated shorts.
He runs the BUG film night at the BFI and is also a mate of Chris from Shynola.
Andy Noble got in touch with his agent and he was really enthusiastic about getting involved. We did the VO at Berwick Post’s studio in Soho and within half an hour he had already nailed the character.

Edited to add: There's a review here and it will be at the Sheffield DocFest in November.

Wot? No Boggins?

Am I aurally retarded or was there no reference to Boggins in today's show?
The butterfly mind of a haughty Cornball has left us high and dry with no continuity but I was distracted, so perhaps I missed it.

The main thing was that I was unusually in company for the Black Squadron command so I was able to carry it out with great ease. That said, I should make it clear that solitary tickling presents few problems for me so I'm not sure why Dr Sexy thought it would be a challenge for singletons.

How lame will I allow this blog to get now that the Squadron Leaders are back in situe?
Stats are still healthy & I can always use it as a portal for 6Music blog alerts and stuff but that just seems like doubling up. I do notice that Blogger stuff comes up in searches when BBC blogs don't. I can always throw a little webcam shot up here, I s'pose. Like most of my net based mumbles, I'll add something when I really have nothing better to do, I guess.
Who knows, I might even be grand enough to offer my opinion on current A&J output!

1) v worried that the first few mins were as lame as this blog
2) deliriously happy that they got back on track at lightening speed
3) incandescent with joy at the prospect of a Song Wars next week.
4) frustrated that Joe had a jingle in his pocket that he failed to share with us due to a sudden rhyming concern - a predicament which has hitherto never halted his presentations

Ticks and Crosses

I'm double posting in case anyone outside the UK was not able to view the latest videoblog entry because it was on a channel only available to UK ip's.
The lovely Castle Keepers have allowed it onto their huge, glistening, bejewelled channel where the entire Commonwealth, Empire and many magical lands far beyond can also enjoy it.

FYI - The SixGroupSix channel has had more views but does not seem to accept comments. The BBC one takes comments but nobody seems to have much to say.

Is it wrong to have a dream like this?

I've been really hoping that a little video gift would pop up here but I kept calming myself with the reasoning that they'd be a bit exhausted after getting back into the early start thing & just scuttle off after doing the podcast links.

Not so! Our wonderful, perky boys gave us the treat I'd longed for - an up-to-date, physical exam. Good Times.
A little bit of thanks goes to James, too (stick to the day job, mate).

It's sweet that Joe imagines the country would only tip in the rush of departing wives when he has a tan. I can usually detect a permanent leaning as the ladies (and let's face it, some men) play a little game of Cornish-gazing relay - tan or no tan.
It's the national status quo, Joe.

Boggins

Weeeeeeelll, they seem to have failed to come up with a Black Squadron command this week but they've dressed it up as if to imply it was a planned outage.

We now have Boggins!

.....ETA - just a bit of trivia....from a 'Boggins' twitter search, a few days before the rebranding of the Adam and Joe show was announced, this popped up.
Tweeted by UKcelebs(Twit Parade)
@howardread My kids use the word Boggins. It was created by my mum when she wanted to say Bug... and realised there were kids in the room.

After the Boys of Summer have gone....

Adam and Joe's radio hiatus is coming to an end.

This silly little blog did not quite turn out to be what I had hoped for. Family illness & now subsequent bereavement made me stay closer to home than originally intended. I've been happy to know that my little cardboard buddies were at my side through the months of mellow fruitfulness.

There is still time to submit suggestions for Text the Nation subjects at the blog. Some eager people are shooting their loads prematurely and submitting answers to other peoples' suggestions but I guess that will help give an indication of what subjects might be more fun than others to pursue.

So, just a few more days until we hear (and maybe even glimpse) Adam and Joe but which one is the best? Don't Make Me Choose.

Oh, I do like to be beside the seaside.......

I have no idea what the timeline might be for this podcast (even the link is time-sensitive) but for the sake of continuing this fictitious adventure *smirk* , let's just say that our favourite comedy duo (please vote) have finally left their homes & places of day-work to embark on a proper holiday.

It seemed only fitting that on the one day that I've had off this week, I should don my plus-fours, tie a hanky on my head and scuttle down to the seaside. Sadly, I only really made it to the estuary so technically, we are still looking at my beautiful Thames but this is where it starts to get all angry, big and a little bit girly.....

Many thanks to lazybones at the forum here for finding that Broadcast voting link. If you don't see Adam & Joe listed, just pop them in at the bottom and vote, vote, vote.

Where Indeed? - some out of season Footie

This is not the kind of venue I would expect to turn up in but even less so with my tiny Adam and Joe. I had to do a bit of work here today so I popped them in my backpack & waited for the sun to come out. I wonder if anyone knows where we were, exactly.

They seemed pretty bemused but not wishing to sound impolite, muttered something about writing a new verse for an old song.

Tomorrow's place of work will be less red and green but more blue.

Helen at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre

I did warn you that at some point, I'd probably lug the little fellas to a part of river other than The South Bank Centre.

Today we were under the lunchtime shadow of Southwark Bridge and overlooking the Millenium Bridge where tourists always seem to be re-enacting scenes from Metropolis. Since I've covered The Thames in several other shots, I took a close-up from the terrace of Sam Wannamaker's dream-come-true replica of Ye Olde Shakie Spearie Theatrie, just before popping in for a bit of tragedy from Penny Downie and Paul McGann. I say tragedy but it really was very, very funny.

I prefer to get down and dirty at the Globe by standing in the yard because the seating area seems rather separatist. If I was a ponce, I'd say I was a "Groundling" but I try to limit my poncey things to once a week. The production is only running at 90 minutes so we didn't stand for long. Needless to say, my tiny Adam and Joe relaxed in my handbag for the duration. They might have been laughing but the bag was zipped up, so I couldn't tell. I just hope they enjoyed themselves on some level. No wait, they're just cardboard, square-headed replicas.

I went to a recording of You Have Been Watching later in the day. Even though it's in the opposite part of town, it was still by the flippin' river so I didn't bother with yet another watery snap.
Tiny Ad & Joe were suitably amused by much of the discussion, though the poor warm-up fella was enough to make you beg for a fleece in a heatwave. Charlie did a nice little bit about Danny Dyer and I know Joe was eager to chip in. Adam (or was that me?) thought that it would have been a better show if Dr Buckles had taken the place of Frank Skinner.

Cup Cake Wedding fun

What can I do?
I told them we were going to a wedding but I did stress it was more about friends & relaxing than pomp & ceremony. So Adam dusted off the top hat, which meant he was completely overdressed and Joe, in his own inimitably dismissive way, dragged on a cool but not entirely wedding respectful t-shirt. If I'm honest, Joe turned more heads than Adam and myself. 'Twas ever thus, great lumbering dude.

The official proceedings started in the very late afternoon (last registry time-slot of the day, apparently) which meant we were straight into a fun evening fine food & wines, larks and japes. I didn't reveal my little cardboard friends until most of the cake-eating guests had left and the stunning cup cake tiers were a scene of ordered destruction.

I was really surprised that so many were left because everyone had enjoyed them. They were feather light and topped with pretties. This is how they started the evening as people were arriving. The top tiers were bite-sized and there was a giant version for those more traditional guests that insisted they happy couple have something to cut.

I think they deserve a close-up.

Tides & Times Pod + Wenders at Somerset House

I'm actually starting to bore myself with these now but the stats indicate I should keep going.
I had an intense, but productive day on this little job I've picked up. I decided to relax with a bit of Wim Wenders appreciation down at Somerset House in the evening. The Behind The Screen event was a bit hot and stuffy and really not as exciting as I had hoped so we all went for a wander out onto the terrace & found the Tides & Times Project pod. Have a poke around the site. I suppose I should take little Adam and Joe on the walking tour sometime. Perhaps when this job is finished.
